As the nights draw in and winter approaches, you could be forgiven for thinking our education mascot Langdon the Lion is hidden away indoors, curled up for a nice long cat nap. However, as a hard-working member of the Rochester Bridge Trust team he’s just as busy as ever.
On top of his civil engineering duties he keeps an eye on the Trust’s estate, which includes large areas of land rented out to farmers. These farms are dedicated to a range of agriculture, including crops and cattle, and one particular site has caught Langdon’s attention because of a special, seasonal crop.
Boarley Farm, near Maidstone, is looking particularly attractive at the moment because it is home to Pumpkin Moon. This open field is packed with pumpkins and squashes of all shapes and sizes and Langdon loves exploring and learning more about this crop.
To help share his love of this bright and cheery produce, Langdon has put together an activity pack of fun things to do with pumpkins, from origami and yoga to cooking and a wordsearch. And of course, with Halloween coming up, don’t forget to carve a pumpkin head to scare your friends!
